  • Overview

     

    The Cook works under the supervision of the Food and Nutrition Manager. He/She follows the daily planned menus including the production thereof; utilizes his/her food service knowledge in the preparation of all menu items in accordance with Mid Coast Senior Health  Food Services Program.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Follows recipes as stated
    • Assists in the production of recipes for banquets and special events
    • Responsible for plate presentation and assurance that all food is prepared to meet the quality standards that are expected
    • Sees that deliveries are stored immediately following receipt
    • Maintains cleanliness of all storage areas (dry and refrigerated) as well as the kitchen area
    • Assures orderly timing of all food production to service staff

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of two to three years in supervisory experience in food operation or comparable experiece
    • Two to three years of experience with culinary arts of comparable culinary arts degree
    • Possess knowledge of food service operations , and public relations
    • Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation operation; rules, practices, regulations and procedures
    • Comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and purchasing practices and procedures
    • General knoweldge of personnell training and evaluation
    • Ability to supervisor and work with other personnel to ensure smooth operation
