    The Senior Medical Director for Acute Care is a 20-hour per week position. As a member of the senior leadership council, the Senior Medical Director for Acute Care will be responsible for providing medical leadership to all acute care services at Mid Coast Hospital.  This includes participation in the oversight of operational and quality programs to assure provision of high-quality and cost effective patient care in fulfilling the mission of the organization.  This position works closely with the Chief Medical Officer to serve as a liaison between providers and hospital administration to resolve issues and work towards the accomplishment of organizational goals.


    • Provide medical leadership to hospital based medical programs.
    • Work closely with Senior Director of Quality and Patient Safety to provide clinical oversight of all quality programs and patient safety measures.
    • Support provider staff in Peer Review and Complaint investigation and follow up.
    • Be a resource and support for medical classroom, Tufts LIC and other educational programs.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Council, participate in strategic planning and other organizational planning and oversight activities.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of the MCPH ACO strategy.
    • Provide direct oversight of the hospitalist program.


    • MD or DO with Maine license in good standing
    • Active member of MCH medical staff
    • Previous leadership experience
    • Excellent verbal and communication skills
    • A minimum of 5 years in practice
