  • Overview

    The Social Worker supports our assisted living residents and their families with personal, social and environmental difficulties to ensure quality residential experience. The Social Worker provides counseling regarding adjustments to new living environment, loss of home, etc. and ongoing psycho-social issues including crisis intervention as needed. The Social Worker contributes to the multi-disciplinary establishment of the resident service plan and participates in interdisciplinary meetings. The Social Worker also assists with discharge planning for residents requiring a different level of care either within or outside the Senior Health Center, including requests for functional assessments and guidance with MaineCare applications.


    • Provides crisis intervention to residents and families.
    • Counsels residents regarding psychosocial issues.
    • Maintains appropriate documentation.
    • Assures that all information is handled in a confidential fashion, and upholds confidentiality of resident information at all times both while at work and off duty.
    • Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the Social Service field.
    • Promotes a positive professional image throughout the Senior Health Center by neat appearance, tactful manner, cheerful attitude, and by working cooperatively.
    • Remains knowledgeable of and acts in accordance with all Senior Health Center policies and procedures applicable to social services.
    • Maintains current knowledge of trends, developments and legal requirements affecting social services for the elderly; maintains compliance with state survey standards.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
    • Licensed by the State of Maine Social Worker’s Registration Board within 3 months of hire.
    • Experience with elder care.
