Medical Secretary - Topsham Family Practice

The Medical Secretary will function as a team member of the Mid Coast Medical Group to facilitate the goals of the office which are:

• To deliver quality patient care which includes maintaining strict patient confidentiality
• To present a positive and respectful attitude to the community
• To operate the office efficiently with regard to income generation and collections and prudent use of resources

• Greeting and processing patients as they check in or out of office
• Verifying patient demographics
• Request completion of paperwork including Medicare questionnaire, Notice of Privacy practices, Registration forms, and health questionnaires
• Direct vendors to appropriate person
• Sort and manage incoming/outgoing mail
• Answer and process phone calls on multi-line phone system
• Schedule patient appointments
• Collect, reconcile, and batch patient encounter forms on daily basis
• Collect appropriate co-payments from patients
• Discuss and collect payments from patients with outstanding bills
• Manage physician(s) schedules including confirming, cancelling, rescheduling appointments as necessary

• Previous medical office experience, preferred
• Strong accuracy and efficiency skills
• Ability to multi-task effectively
• Familiarity with health insurance plans
• Knowledge of medical terminology
