The Mammographer performs diagnostic imaging exams and procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.  He/she promotes patient safety, verifies identification prior to exam, verifies patient physician(s), assists Radiologists in sterile procedures, and ensures files are archived to PACS and completed properly in CPSI.  They are also responsible for maintaining facilities in proper working order. 


  • Perform diagnostic exams as requested by referring physician and department procedure protocol.
  • Responsible for safe and proper use of radiographic equipment
  • Responsible for proper patient care.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media per protocol and/or Radiologist.
  • Utilize proper imaging technique.
  • Competent in age specific development as evidenced by competency program for the population  



  • Graduate of 2-year JCERT approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • Current registration by A.R.R.T.
  • At least one year experience as Radiographer preferred.
  • Current registration in Mammography.
  • Must maintain 15 mammo specific credits at all times for a three year period
  • Current license by State of Maine.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Active telephone.
  • Valid Maine Drivers License.
