Overview

The Oncology Nurse for Mid Coast Medical Group is a clinical position providing direct and indirect care to patients in the hematology/oncology office and in the infusion center setting.  This position is responsible for the independent assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The Oncology Nurse Demonstrates the ability to multitask in a fast paced office setting. This position is able to work collaboratively with team members and  demonstrates effective communication skills, patient advocacy and customer service.  This position is able to identify opportunities for improvement,  contributes to the development of departmental policies, procedure s and standards of care and assumes responsibility for own professional development.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; telephone triage, symptom management, prescription refills, patient education, Coumadin management, monitoring/managing physician and nurse desktops, scheduling patients for complex treatment regimes, facilitating referrals and assisting with treatment in the infusion center. 

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse (BSN preferred)
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification
  • ONS Certification preferred
    Patient focused, excellent assessment skills (previous experience with phone triage preferred), flexibility, ability to function in a fast-paced department, attention to detail, computer savvy, excellent organizational skills.
