Overview

 

The Nurse Residency Program is an enhanced orientation and training program for new grad nurses with the aim of enhancing and completing their clinical skills and easing the transition into practice.  The program consists of working with paired mentors for each participation in shared didactic clinical and professional education and case conferences.

The Clinical Nurse I (Nurse Resident) at Mid Coast Hospital is a clinical position. The primary area of responsibility is the management of patient care. This includes clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth and development. The Clinical Nurse I is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. He/She demonstrates positive guest relations through effective communication skills, patient advocacy, and maintaining collaborative relationships. The RN at this level is expected to contribute to improvements in standards of care, support departmental policies and assume responsibilities for meeting professional education goals. This level is accepted as the beginning level of practice at Mid Coast Hospital.

Qualifications

 

  • RN Licensure, State of Maine, required before starting.
  • Applicants must be flexible with their schedule.
  • Nurse Resident Program participants must be recent new graduate (within the previous year) BSN students.
  • If selected for an interview, you would be required to provide school transcripts, hospital online application, and two letters of recommendation.  An interview with the Selection Committee will also be required.
