Overview

This position coordinates public relations and media efforts for Mid Coast­–Parkview Health—including Mid Coast Hospital, Mid Coast Medical Group, Mid Coast Senior Health Center, and CHANS Home Health Care—in order to best represent the missions, visions, and values of the organization.

 

This position works consistently within the framework of the Mid Coast­–Parkview Health strategic plan with guidance and supervision from the Director of Marketing Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Write and distribute press releases and share through electronic channels
  • Establish and maintain online newsroom and maintain PR archives
  • Triage incoming media inquiries and works with Director of Marketing Communication administrators, faculty, and staff to identify appropriate spokesperson and crafts thoughtful talking points and/or responses as requested.
  • Identify media mentions and distribute within timely manner, as well as submit for reporting to Board.
  • Monitor and anticipate potential crises and issues as they emerge
  • Attend internal and external events and assist with event publicity/reporting
  • Assist with government relations efforts as needed
  • Interact and communicate effectively with Mid Coast–Parkview Health stakeholders, employees, community, media, and government relations and apprise supervisor of situations as appropriate
  • Support writing, editing, and proofreading needs of the department
  • Perform administrative functions of the job to ensure a professional, organized, and efficient department, including:
  • Read and respond to physical mail and email
  • Answer and route correspondence
  • Maintain required reports, records, and files
  • Operate and care for computer and printer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required; in areas of English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years in marketing, communications, public relations, writing, and editing.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Expert use of Mac computer software to assist in creating and articulating messages.
