  • Overview

    The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound exams to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. He/she assists Radiologists in sterile procedures, and maintains ultrasound equipment according to manual.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform ultrasound exams as requested by ordering physician and department protocol
    • Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of ultrasound equipment.
    • Prepare and positiion patiens for ultrasound exam
    • Develop camera images
    • Assist Radiologist in placement of needles, tubes, etc
    • Note changes in patient's condition and notify Radiolgist or patient's physician

     

    Qualifications

    • Completion of AMA approved 2 year course.
    • Completion of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Exams-D.M.S. preferred.
    • At least 3 months Diagnostic Ultrasound experience preferred.
    • Current registration of R.D.M.S.
    • Current license for State of Maine if appropriate.
    • Valid Maine Driver’s License.
    • Active telephone
