Overview

Under the supervision of the Lead Cook, the Utility Aid for Dining Services shall assist the dining staff in a variety of different areas. This position requires food preparation knowledge, operating dish washing machines, preparing dishes for the dish washing machine and maintaining the dish room in a sanitary and orderly fashion. The Utility Aid will be asked to assist on the food line and dining area as needed, wash and prepare raw vegetables and fruit, wash pot and pan’s, assist with floor maintenance, stock foods in dry storage, refrigerator and freezer and to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

    • Is responsible for raw vegetable and fruit preparation as directed
    • Is responsible for washing and sanitizing dishes
    • Is responsible for the operation and cleaning of dish washing machine
    • Is responsible for the stacking and storing of clean dishes, glasses and flatware
    • Keeps kitchen areas in a sanitary condition
    • Assist in floor maintenance
    • Cleans areas where supplies are stored
    • Assist in the restocking of cleaning and sanitization chemicals
    • Assist in plating of meals on the production line, if needed
    • Assist in preparation and presentation of salads and desserts as needed
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead/Head Chef

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in institutional dining services or comparable experience desired.
