  • Overview

    Under the supervision of the Waitstaff Team Leader(in that individual’s absence, Dining Room Host), the Waitstaff is responsible for the taking of orders and the delivery of all menu items to the dining room guests. Comprehensive knowledge of dining room etiquette and Thornton Oaks unique procedures is expected. The Waitstaff shall perform such other duties as required by the Host/Director of Dining Services.


    • Performing a variety of services including waiting on assigned tables, taking orders, setting and busing tables.
    • Assuring that all shift duties are thoroughly completed before the close of each shift period.
    • Setup and clean-up of special functions as assigned.
    • Cleanliness and proper arrangement of tables
    • Understanding - before each meal period - every menu item and specials, well enough to answer diners’ questions.
    • Properly greeting all residents and guests.
    • Adherence to all sanitation and food handling protocols.
    • Adherence to all safety policies & procedures of Thornton Oaks and regulatory authorities.
    • Assuring that all dining services protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
    • Proper personal appearance and hygiene according to established procedures.
    • Follow established dress code.
    • Preparation of routine set-up of dining room for next day and/or special holidays.
    • Maintaining quality level of service as defined
    • Attend meetings as necessary.
    • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate or as directed.


    • Demonstrates great customer service.
    • Willingness to learn about food service operations.
    • Willingness to learn about the rules, practices, and regulations which apply.
    • Ability to work with other personnel to ensure smooth operation.
    • On the job training.
