  • Overview

    The Office Nurse will function as a team member of the Mid Coast Medical Group and will facilitate the goals of the office which are:


    • To deliver quality patient care which includes maintaining strict patient confidentiality
    • To present a positive and respectful attitude to the community for Mid Coast Medical Group and Mid Coast Hospital.  
    • To operate the office efficiently and ensure prudent use of resources.



    •  Managing patient flow by escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vital signs and highlighting the reason for the visit for the physician, always keeping in mind making the most of the physician's time.
    • Verifying all information necessary to the visit is in the patient chart prior to appointment.
    •  Triage patient phone calls and follow protocol to determine appropriate form of treatment needed           

    •  Process medication refills as ordered by physician.

    •  Processing lab work and test results

    • Cleaning and sterilizing instruments according to OSHA standards.

    • Assisting in chart review if necessary

    • Keeping medication closet organized and dispensing of expired medications. Includes interaction and oversight of pharmaceutical representatives.

    • Calling patients with lab results or physician orders or to triage a situation.

    • Filling out facility charge grid and superbill to ensure proper charges for the visit. 

    • Complete Nursing CBO tool.
    • Returning patient calls.
    •  Maintaining medication ordering log and injection log.
    •  Performing lab and diagnostic procedures according to OSHA standards.
    •  Ordering medical supplies, pharmaceutical supplies, and other paper products as  needed.
    •  Assisting physician when necessary and documenting in chart as necessary.
    •  Maintaining exam rooms including cleaning and stocking.



    • RN Degree
    • Current State of Maine licensure
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • One to two years hospital nursing experience, preferred
